Welcome to the Department of Sociology and Anthropology! We are excited to have you join us here at the College of Charleston. Below you will find valuable information about our department as well as useful tools to help you navigate through your first semester.
Our department is unique in that we offer two distinct majors and a certificate program. Also, many of our majors participate in the Crime, Law and Society minor.
The Cultural Sustainability Certificate provides undergraduate students and non-degree-seeking students an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of how culture intersects with conceptualizations of sustainability.
Minors:
Many students at the College of Charleston complement their majors by completing one or more academic minors. A minor in Sociology or Anthropology requires students to complete 18 hours of coursework in the respective program.
The mission of the Crime, Law and Society minor is to provide students with the knowledge and experience necessary to understand the origins of criminal behavior, the consequences of crime for society and the legal responses societies develop to combat crime.
