How Do I Arrange an Internship?

Sociology and Gerontology

First, please read through the list of FAQs

Second, give some thought to what type of internship work you'd prefer, and look over the organizations on the Internship Placement List.

Third, think about how many credit hours you would like to receive.  Credit is variable, ranging from 1 to 6 hours, depending on the number of hours spent at your placement site. Three hours of internship per week are required for one hour of academic credit; a typical three hour course requires nine hours of internship placement per week or 120 hours per semester.

Fourth, meet with the appropriate sociology or gerontology internship coordinator to discuss your interests, strengths and career objectives in order to identify the most appropriate organization/site in which to complete an internship.  They will guide you through the registration process.
